Colonel Kamarul “Spec” Yaacob

Kamarul Yaacob, call sign “Spec” served as a dedicated senior Special Forces military officer with 31 years of experience, directing analytical support for tactical, strategic, conventional and special operations forces. He attended the Malaysia Royal Military College, Officer Cadet School prior to joining Malaysian Special Forces, as a Troop Commander.

Spec has a proven ability to lead strategic planning efforts in national/international large-scale operations. He is adept at problem solving and multi-tasking, during fast-paced and stressful situations. Spec has held many posts in the Armed Forces as a Troop Commander, OC Commando Squadron, Commanding Officer, Training Staff Officer, Anti-Terrorist Staff Officer and Special Forces Procurement and Technical Staff Officer. His last posting, prior  to his retirement, was as Commandant of the Army Special Warfare Training Centre.

Spec attended many national and international courses and has been awarded several honours and medals from His Majesty, the King of Malaysia: Defender of the Realm; Knight Officer; Distinguished Conduct Medal; Malaysian Service Medal (Emergency); Loyal Service Medal, UN Mission in Mozambique (UNOMOZ), Sultan of Johor Medal (Gold) and General Service Medal.
