Performance Excellence Solutions Manager
Don joined Check-6 Logistics Solutions in April of 2014. He is the son of retired Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer and considers Billings, Montana home. Continuing the Naval tradition, he graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Engineering. In 1990 he was designated a Naval Flight Officer (NFO) and soon after reported to VS-27 for training in the S-3B Viking.
In 1992 he reported to the “Sawbucks” of VS-37 and made two deployments onboard USS KITTY HAWK in support of Operations RESTORE HOPE and SOUTHERN WATCH. During this first tour, he served as the Electronic Warfare Officer, Assistant Administration Officer, Quality Assurance Officer and Assistant Maintenance Officer.
In 1995 he reported to the “Shamrocks” of VS-41 as a Flight Instructor and served as the Electronic Warfare Officer, NFO Curriculum Officer and NFO Standardization Officer. He also completed his Masters in Business Administration during this tour.
In 1998, after completing the Aviation Safety Officer course, he reported to Carrier Air Wing TWO as the Safety Officer and the Surface Warfare Officer and made one deployment onboard USS CONSTELLATION in support of Operation SOUTHERN WATCH.
In 2000 he returned to NAS North Island for his Department Head tour with the “Red Griffins” of VS-38. He made another deployment onboard USS CONSTELLATION in support of Operation SOUTHERN WATCH and served as the Safety Officer and the Operations Officer.
In October 2001 he reported to Sea Control Wing, Pacific as the Operations Officer and Chief Staff Officer. He was instrumental in the planning and execution of the S-3B Sundown Plan which disestablished the Viking community.
After selection for Aviation Command in 2005, Don reported to NAS Pensacola to serve first as the Executive Officer and then as the Commanding Officer of VT-4. During his Command tour, the squadron was awarded both the Chief of Naval Operations Safety Award and the Secretary of the Navy Safety Award, as well as the Secretary of the Navy Energy Conservation Award.
In 2008 he reported to the USS JOHN C STENNIS as the Operations Officer and made one deployment to the Western Pacific. During this tour the Operations Department was awarded both the prestigious Blue “E” and Green “E” for operational efficiency excellence.
In 2010 he reported to the USSTRATCOM Missile Warning Center in Cheyenne Mountain as the Operations Officer and Deputy Director. He also completed his Masters in Healthcare Administration during this tour.
Don retired in 2013 with over 24 years of Naval service. During his military career he accumulated over 2700 flight hours and 700 carrier arrested landings. His awards include the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (3 awards), the Navy Commendation Medal (4 awards), the Navy Achievement Medal and various unit and campaign awards. Don lives in Colorado Springs with his wife and their two children.
