Raymond “Wally” Albarado comes to the Check-6 team from Lafayette, Louisiana. He spent his formative years exploring the swamps and bayous of the Atchafalaya Swamp Basin; his passions were hunting, fishing, racing BMX, riding dirt bikes, playing soccer, skateboarding, and Boy Scouts.
Wally entered military service in the United States Marine Corps before being accepted to the United States Naval Academy where he graduated with merit. He went on to earn his “Wings of Gold” as a pilot in the U.S. Navy and was first assigned to fly the MH-53E Sea Dragon, performing Heavy Lift Logistics and Airborne Mine Countermeasures (AMCM) missions. His 15 year flying career included numerous coveted qualifications and ratings in multiple airframes with zero mishaps throughout three operational deployments to the Arabian Gulf and three significant operations in support of Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief efforts across the globe.
From 24 years of unique and diverse military service, Wally brings a rich history of promotions, awards, and increasing responsibilities in high-stakes and technically demanding environments. He especially excels in aligning strategic and operational planning with organizational needs to achieve unmatched efficiency and quality improvements. Wally is an operations and program management professional with a proven record of success in establishing and managing multimillion dollar projects across diverse functional areas, including equipment and facilities maintenance, global logistic support, and large-scale training operations.
His unique ability in process improvement was recognized by the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) while supervising a NATO contract for Capability Development in 28 nations. With 218 submissions across various categories and judged by a panel of independent international procurement directors, his team was winner of the 2012 CIPS Supply Management Awards in both categories of “Overall” and “Best Contribution to the Reputation of the Procurement Profession,” beating out the London Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games.
Wally’s graduate degrees include: B.S. in Oceanography from the U.S. Naval Academy (with Merit), M.S. in Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (with Distinction), and M.A. in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College.
