Commander Tim “Sub” Parr, United States Navy (Retired) is a native of Baltimore, Maryland with many years spent growing up in Connecticut. He graduated from Western Connecticut State University in 1987 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. Upon graduation he enlisted in the Navy as an Anti-Submarine Warfare Operator and qualified as a P-3 Orion aircraft aircrewman. He served his first tour in Brunswick, Maine with Patrol Squadron Forty-Four (VP-44), “The Budmen” where he accumulated over 1000 flight hours during deployments to Spain, Iceland, Greenland, the Azores and locations throughout Europe from 1988-1991.
After receiving his commission as a Navy Ensign in 1991, CDR Parr completed the Naval Aviation Maintenance Duty Officer training program and was assigned to Aviation Intermediate Maintenance Department (AIMD) at Naval Air Station (NAS) Willow Grove, Pennsylvania. During this tour “Sub” was assigned to lead multiple teams of technicians as the Aviation Ground Support Equipment and Aircraft Avionics Officer.
CDR Parr’s next tour from 1996 to 1998 was with the legendary “Bounty Hunters” of Fighter Squadron Two (VF-2). During this tour of duty he supported the squadron’s F-14D Tomcat as both Material Control Officer and Maintenance Material Control Officer while based at NAS Oceana, Virginia and onboard the aircraft carrier USS Constellation (CV-64) in the Western Pacific and Persian Gulf.
Returning to NAS Willow Grove in 1998, CDR Parr served as P-3 Orion Assistant Aircraft Maintenance Officer and Maintenance Material Control Officer while assigned to the “Condors” of Patrol Squadron Sixty-Four (VP-64) until 2001. Following this tour he continued serving at NAS Willow Grove from 2001-2005 as the Commander Reserve Patrol Wing Maintenance Officer for 51 P-3 aircraft and 1400 technicians assigned to seven Reserve squadrons operating in worldwide area of operations.
From 2005-2008, CDR Parr served at Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), NAS Patuxent River, Maryland as the Deputy Program Manager for all Navy Executive Aircraft Programs which included directing the full acquisition and delivery of two Gulfstream G-550 to the Navy. Following this tour, CDR Parr reported to NAS New Orleans, Louisiana as Officer-In-Charge of Fleet Readiness Center Mid-Atlantic New Orleans from 2008-2011. During this tour he led the day to day aviation maintenance operations of over 250 Navy, Marine and civilian technicians in the repair of aircraft components coupled with a supply warehouse in support of global Navy and Marine Corps logistic resourcing.
CDR Parr’s final Navy assignment from 2011 to 2013 was at NAS North Island, San Diego, California at Commander, Naval Air Forces Pacific where he served as Aircraft Assistant Maintenance Officer. During this tour, CDR Parr earned his Master of Business Administration with a focus in Logistics from Trident University in 2012. He has also achieved Level III certifications from the Defense Acquisition University in Logistics and Production, Quality Assurance and Manufacturing.
Tim “Sub” Parr currently lives with his wife and four children in Mandeville, Louisiana. “Sub” enjoys traveling with his family, coaching youth baseball and recreational tennis.
